Dominic Breadmore of Predacom Productions, is running our first summer film week, and gives us his blog from day one:
Welcome to the first daily blog from this year’s Make it Reel summer school. We’re working with 20 young people from across Coventry and Warwickshire to do something special over the next week. In groups of five, they have been tasked with producing a five minute film, in five days.
Yesterday was all about generating ideas, starting with some initial inspiration in the screenings of four short films:
Where were we (2003) dir. Matt Smith
UK Images (1996) dir. Martin Parr
Nits (2003) dir. Harry Wootliff
How they get there (1997) dir. Spike Jonze
Spread throughout the day, each of the films gave a bit of insight into a different element of independent short film production. The young people have formed themselves into four production companies; Ghost Productions, Infinity Studios, Little Ladybird Productions and STAGS Productions.
The ideas are just starting to emerge and the day ended with each of the production companies pitching two potential ideas to the rest of the group.
