Afternoon All,
A short one from me today…
Well, as Paul was being made uncomfortable by Guantanamo bay and sex trafficking, I have just been to Tim Crouch’s The Author which will be coming to Warwick Arts Centre in the autumn. I won’t tell you too much as the power of the piece is in the unexpected. However – it is an extraordinary piece of theatre. Beautifully and unexpectedly structured, beautifully and unexpectedly written and beautifully and unexpectedly performed – I wasn’t really sure for much of the performance what was real and what was theatrical and I heartily recommend you catch it in the autumn.
Other highlights of the last 24 hours include The Du-Rell Family a faux Texan honky-tonk country band playing gloriously sorrowful songs and murder ballads at Zoo Southside, and a great piece of student writing Bound also at Zoo Southside. Bound tells the story of a group of trawlermen on a desperate fishing trip trying to save themselves from bankruptcy and has a real heart to it.
Quite a full day today, Dean’s Dad’s Ducks, Penelope by Enda Walsh, Sex Idiot (which previewed at Warwick back in March at Bite Size), and David Leddy’s Sub Rosa.
Do drop us a line if you have any recommendations.
