Skin, Blood and Bone
September 2008 – July 2009
With funding from the Wellcome Trust, this visual art, dance and science project investigates the human body. Key Stage 2 children from two very different primary schools in Coventry are working with dance and visual artist Jo Buffery, the University of Warwick’s Professor of Clinical Anatomy Peter Abrahams and their teachers to make new visual art and dance works that they will present in their own schools and which will also tour to other primary schools in the city.
A recipe book of creative teaching ideas to embed and extend scientific learning, was created as part of this project. This publication aims to share with other schools, some of the most successful project activities and was written by the artist and teachers in the project. As with a recipe book you can choose to follow every detail, or dip into it for ideas that you can adapt and make your own!
A copy of this book was sent to every Coventry primary school in Autumn 2009 for use by their teachers. We do have a limited number of copies available to teachers from other areas that would like one. Please contact Cathryn Goodwin, Education Officer, for your copy on 024 7655 1793 or by e-mail.
