Modern Cautionary Tales For Children II (or Nit Comb Surfarama)
Sun 9 May 2010 3pm
Studio £7.75 (£5.75)
Ages 4+
55mins
Featuring all new material – bar the Nine Dead Williams, back by overwhelming popular demand – MCTfC II offers the same mix of rock and roll ‘n’ poetry, stand-up, storytelling and a touch of “shh” panto.
Children dancing on-stage, getting seriously involved in live interactive poetry, being sharks, surf punks, nits and co-conspirators in a raucous, silly, scary, funny, poignant and enlightening hour of merriment and mayhem.
A hilarious and positive route to showing children that poetry can be fun, thought provoking and occasionally quite cool.
NB. For maximum enjoyment children (and adults!) are encouraged to bring wigs and pig noses to the performance. Pig noses can be easily made out of egg boxes (suitably painted) and a piece of elastic!
“Who’d have thought it. The big bad boy of performance poetry turns out to be one of the greatest children’s entertainers I have ever seen. There is not a patronising nanosecond in this show – children and ‘ex-children’ are treated exactly alike, so children and ‘ex-children’ enjoy it alike. Go on, practice your animal noises and give yourself some fun!” The Scotsman

I decided to do something DIFFERENT with the kids.I have two daughters aged 9 and 10 when we arrived and saw parents with much younger children I feared an embarassing hour ahead!I breathed a sigh of relief about 3 minutes later as my girls and a friends daughter who is autistic, were giggling at a strange man in a dressing gown!we had a very DIFFERENT enjoyable hour.
