Saw the Flowers of War - an excellent film well acted. I thought that it was going to be too long - but I am amazed that Zhang Yimou managed to get so much content ito the two and half hours. This film managed to look at a tragic episode in Chinese history from many perspectives - the convent girls, the prostitutes, the remaining Chinese soldier and the western perspective from Christian Bale. I have been impressed with the quality of recent films from China.
