We have very much enjoyed live transmissions from the national theatre, the met , and covent garden on previous occasions.I have not noticed the ticket price of £25 before. This seems a bit steep? Is this a new price and is it just for the met? I think many people may think twice before paying £50 per couple to go to the cinema and even if it is, in all probability, a sell out , it is a price which will exclude many people. Your hands are probably tied by the price being set by The Met ? What a pity.

totally agree - its very expensive; we could go and see the "real thing" in Stratford Upon Avon. I would love to come but the price is just too high.

Thank you both for your comments. We have been broadcasting the Metropolitan Opera Live series for some time now and the price has been £25 for every event, we have not altered it.
We have had some great feedback from audiences who have enjoyed the live transmissions so far, many of whom have said that this is the closest they would ever be able to come to seeing the Metropolitan Opera live. We are pleased to be able to bring (as near as) the 'real thing' to audiences in the West Midlands who are unable to travel to New York to see it in person.
Thanks again for taking the time to comment.

Lynda, since when do the Met Opera perform in SoA???? This isn't the play Hamlet, it's New York's Metropolitan Opera! I came to see Carmen with friends earlier this year and it was a stunning four hours of entertainment, hardly just "going to the cinema". Keep up the good work WAC.

To be fair to WAC, you would pay up to £300 to see this in NYC. Plus a return flight. Suddenly £25 doesn't seem too bad for a live cinema transmission does it? :)
