A Chekhov International Festival Production in Association with Cheek by Jowl
We are thrilled to welcome back Cheek by Jowl's breathtaking production of Boris Godunov which first delighted Warwick Arts Centre audiences in 2001.
During the 'Time of Troubles' in Russia, the Tsar battles to suppress a dangerous impostor and his own conscience.
From ballrooms to battles, Pushkin's lyrical masterpiece is a compelling expose of the seductive appeal of power and the terrible price that must be paid for it.
Cheek by Jowl's stellar Russian ensemble returns to Warwick Arts Centre following their triumphant performances of Twelfth Night and Three Sisters.
Boris Godunov features many of the actors from those productions including Irina Grineva (Masha) and Igor Yasulovitch (Feste), as well as Russian star Evgeny Mironov, with Alexander Feklistov (Vershinin and Sir Toby Belch) in the title role.
Formed in 2001, Cheek by Jowl's Russian ensemble has toured the world winning numerous awards and adulation from audiences and critics alike.
This is a chance to see a masterpiece performed in its original language by an outstanding ensemble that will immediately immerse you in the story and the emotion.
In Russian with English surtitles.
