Fierce Festival 2008

Fierce presents some of the most explosive new performance talent from across the globe. Set to ignite imaginations, uncover fresh perspectives and force a smile at moments of mischief. Visit Fierce Festival website for more information.

A work conceived and directed by Lloyd Newson.

DV8's Artistic Director Lloyd Newson leads a multi-ethnic cast in a poetic but unflinching exploration of tolerance, intolerance, religion and sexuality. DV8's new show is based on hundreds of hours of audio interviews collected throughout the UK with people directly affected by these issues.

In a production incorporating dance, text, documentary, animation and film, twenty years on DV8 still refuses to be defined.

"The persecution of people because of their sexual orientation is every bit as unjust as that crime against humanity, apartheid. We must all be allowed to love with honour." Archbishop Desmond Tutu

DV8 Physical Theatre was formed in 1986 and is led by Lloyd Newson. The company has produced 15 highly acclaimed dance pieces, which have toured internationally, and 5 award-winning films for television.

Their work is about taking risks, both physically and aesthetically, breaking down barriers between dance and theatre, dealing with personal politics and, above all, communicating ideas and feelings clearly, constantly challenging preconceptions of what dance can, and should, address.
