Zappatistas
featuring John Etheridge
Sorry, this event is either not on sale yet or has been and gone.Theatre
Warwick Arts Centre is delighted to be working in partnership with Coventry Jazz Festival, presenting an impressive and varied programme performing in several venues across the city.
John Etheridge, Steve Lodder, Simon Bates, Annie Whitehead, Paul Jayasinha (trumpet), Dudley Phillips (bass), Mike Bradley, Pete Eckford (percussion)
Some of Frank Zappa's most innovative compositions are his truly idiosyncratic works at the meeting point of jazz and rock, and the bizarre.
Until now, few musicians have dared to attempt to pay tribute to the complex convoluted music of the man now seen as one of the most significant composers of the 20th century.
But the 1998 Newark Festival asked guitarist John Etheridge (with his jazz/rock credentials firmly established through his years with Soft Machine) to create a group to perform this material... and the eight piece Zappatistas was born.
