Children are afraid of the dark but many adults are too! Darkness prevents from seeing, and we can then persuade ourselves that we are surrounded by beasts, insects or any other malevolent creature. In colloquial language we talk about 'dark ideas', 'living in dark misery' or 'having dark premonitions'... This feeling of uneasiness can be traced back to the mists of time.

Six of the worlds hottest graphic artists and cartoonists have breathed life into their nightmares, bleeding away colour only to retain the starkness of light and the pitch black of shadows. Their intertwined stories make up an unprecedented epic where phobias, disgust and nightmares come to life and reveal fear at its most naked and intense.
