Breaking Rocks: Billy Bragg and the Jail Guitar Doors Project
Sun 25 Jul 7.30pm
Theatre: £12.50
This very special evening is introduced by director Alan Miles as he presents a screening of his film Breaking Rocks after which audiences will be treated to a live performance and Q&A session from the self-proclaimed ‘one-man political rock-star’ himself, Billy Bragg plus guests Johnny Neesom and Leon Walker.
Breaking Rocks is an inspiring documentary that tells the story of Jail Guitar Doors, an initiative set up by Billy Bragg in commemoration of Clash musician Joe Strummer. The project provides musical instruments to prison inmates to help facilitate rehabilitation and prevent re-offending.
The film features performances by ‘graduates’ of Jail Guitar Doors as well as from many of the artists who have supported the programme including Mick Jones (The Clash), Chris Shiflett (Foo Fighters), Sam Duckworth (Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly) and Billy Bragg himself.

Dear Billy,
We met at DMU when you gave a guest lecture and we are also Sarah Batchelor's parents. We are so sorry we missed Breaking Rocks at Warwick. Any chance to see the film later in the year?
All the best with your great work,
Caroline & David
