Efterklang with special guest John Grant
The Piramida Concert
Sat 27 Oct 8pm
Butterworth Hall: £16, £18 + booking fee
The Piramida Concert is an exciting and innovative project from this ever resourceful and imaginative group. They have played as a rock band throughout the world and specialise in amazing integrated orchestral projects. This time Efterklang collaborate with the 35-piece Northern Sinfonia, orchestra of The Sage Gateshead, conducted by the much in demand André de Ridder, to create a concert that will push musical boundaries while creating a musical experience that will reward everyone.
Efterklang have engaged classical arrangers Missy Mazzoli (Kronos Quartet, Victoire), Karsten Fundal (Under Byen, Oh Land) and Daníel Bjarnason (Sigur Rós, Múm) to create music for band and orchestra from the outset.
For this special concert, the Danish trio will be performing as a six-piece, augmented by Peter Broderick (piano), Katinka Fogh Vindelev (choir) and legendary drummer Budgie (Siouxsie and The Banshees, The Creatures).
Efterklang will be also be joined by a very special opening act: the incomparable John Grant. Grant, who originally came to prominence with cult favourites The Czars, released his highly acclaimed debut solo album Queen of Denmark in 2010, which showcased his wonderful warm baritone vocals and incisive song writing.
Efterklang are a ‘must see’ live act and this tour will not be repeated in the UK. If you have seen them before this is an opportunity to see something unique. If you haven’t seen Efterklang before, this is your ‘must see’ moment.
