Kate Rusby
Christmas Kate
Sat 19 Dec 2009 8pm
Butterworth Hall: £18.50 (£16.50)
Kate Rusby has become one of Britain’s foremost music artists, whether performing songs from the country’s rich music tradition or her own intuitive self-penned material.
This unmissable evening will take you from Rusby classics and old favourites to a showcase of South Yorkshire Village Carols, complete with brass quintet; a rousing Christmas celebration. Come along to hear new variations of familiar carols mostly unheard outside her area.
“Humanity and intelligence shine from her voice, an instrument of quiet and subtle strength.” The Guardian
“an utterly life affirming evening.” Evening Standard
South Yorkshire has a very strong tradition of carol singing starting early November. Sunday lunchtimes sees 100s of carollers cram into various pubs in the locality to join in the unashamedly joyous singing – standing room only! At its heart, it represents an oral tradition, constantly evolving, passed down from generation to
generation, with roots dating back over 200 years.
Butterworth Hall
With a maximum capacity of 2000 standing or 1500 seated this concert hall has an outstanding natural acoustic and is the home of our International Concert Series, as well as the majority of our music gigs and big name comedians. Butterworth Hall has recently had a £6.9 million redevelopment and reopened in autumn 2009 .

Hi
I am having real difficulties trying to book tickets on line. I tried to update my address and got lots of errors. The booking side of the website looks good but it could do with much more testing.
regards
