Read Michael Billington’s review in The Guardian
It is winter. The Queen has declared that there will be a glittering festival of music, magic and dancing so that her son might find the girl of his dreams. Everyone is invited to his astonishing palace. BUT… Cinderella won’t be going to the Ball – unless she manages to finish the impossible tasks her sisters have set her. Maybe her friends from the forest can help her?
Melly Still, the acclaimed director of Coram Boy and Watership Down says goodbye to Buttons and the Fairy Godmother and returns to the original magical tale.

Is this show suitable for ages 3 and 4?
thanks
laura at 10:18pm on Fri 4th Dec 2009
I took my daughters to see this production last night, we were all spelbound throughout. Beautifully played performances from all the actors (special mentions for the enchanting actress who played Cinderella and the superb comedy timing of the sisters). The music in particular made this production one to remember. A timeless story, incredibly well told. And the "gruesome" parts we had read about had us gasping and giggling in equal measure! Thank you for a real Christmas treat!!
Samantha at 10:49pm on Wed 23rd Dec 2009
Fantastic! Went to see Cinderella with my daughter and her friend (7 & 8), and we all loved it. The girls were particularly impressed with dancing with the Prince and one of the step-sisters at the interval. A refreshing change from the Disney version and Panto - go and see it.

iS THIS SUITABLE FOR A 5 YEAR OLD?
Caroline at 8:25pm on Mon 28th Dec 2009
Cinderella is recommended for brave children aged 7 and above, and their families. Five year olds would probably enjoy our other Christmas show, the Snow Dragon, more.

My grandchildren are a grown up 8 yrs old girl and a lively 5 yr old boy. Would Cinderella be OK for both of them? I think the Snow Dragon would be too young for the 8 yr old.
Jean at 3:23pm on Wed 30th Dec 2009
Hi Jean. Cinderella is really recommended for age 7 and up for two reasons. It's not a pantomime and has a really well told storyline, which some younger children may not be able to follow. Also, it is a retelling of the original Brothers Grimm tale which doesn't shy away from a bit of blood and gore! Think Horrible Histories type storytelling. If your grandson likes an adventure and gasps and giggles of horror he may well enjoy it as much as I hope his big sister will!
