The doorbell rings just as Sophie and her mummy are sitting down to tea. Who could it possibly be? What they certainly don’t expect to see at the door is a big, stripy tiger!

The tea-guzzling tiger takes to the road in this delightful family show; packed with oodles of magic, sing-a-long songs and clumsy chaos! A stunning stage adaptation of this classic tale of teatime mayhem… expect to be surprised!

David Wood is undisputedly the country’s leading writer and director of plays and musicals for children. His many successes include Fantastic Mr Fox, The Gingerbread Man, The BFG, The Witches, Meg and Mog, Spot and Babe the Sheep Pig.

  • Hi Bethan

Apologies for overlooking that information - we've updated it now. The Tiger Who Came To Tea is suitable for anyone aged 3 and over. It lasts for just under an hour.

    Hope you'll be coming along.

  • I am very keen to bring my class of 26 nursery children to see this show. Are there any reductions on ticket prices for block bookings? Wwe would also be bringing about six adults with us.

  • I would like to bring my 3 year old and also my 1 year old to the show, however my 1 year old will not sit in his own seat, will I have to buy him a seat ticket (£10.25) or is it fine for him to sit on my lap?

  • Is TTWCTT really for young kids? I'm thinking of taking my late teenage daughters and their grandparents for a bit of fun but think we might look a bit silly?!

Anna at 3:41pm on Mon 17th Oct 2011

  • Dear Mike and Anna,

    Many thanks for your comments.

Mike - this show is aimed at children, but you certainly won't look silly if you want to bring your older family along. I'd recommend having a look at our trailer (scroll to the 'trailer' tab under 'buy tickets', ours is the second one) where you will see that audiences young and old have enjoyed the show.

Anna - although we do recommend that this show is suitable for over 3s, it is fine to bring along a 2 year old if you think they would enjoy it. Again, I'd have a look at the trailer where you will see that very young children have been mesmerised by the show. There is lots of participation as well which helps keep very young children engaged.

    Many thanks,

  • I'm considering booking this as a birthday treat for my daughter (who will be 7) and four of her friends. I read that the guidline is 3+ and am worried it may be a little too young for them? Your comments would be appreciated, thanks.

Natalie at 10:02pm on Mon 17th Oct 2011

  • Hello Natalie,

The best thing to do to get a feel for the show would be to take a look at the trailer (click the 'trailer' button below 'buy tickets')

Every child is different - and only children have certainly enjoyed the show as well as younger children - but the trailer should give you a good idea of what to expect and whether it will be appropriate for your daughter.

    Thanks,

  • You have it listed as "The Tiger Who Came to Tea Christmas 2011."Is the Christmas performance different from the regular performance of this show? Have they adapted it to make it Christmassey? I know the book makes no reference to Christmas.
    Thanks.

  • Hello,

Rosemary: Details for the entire tour are here - http://www.thetigerwhocametotealive.com

Hayley: The show is exactly the same as for the rest of the tour - it just happens to be our Christmas show. We advertised it as 'Christmas 2011' to make a distinction between when it was here in Spring earlier this year.

    I hope that helps.

  • Hi,
I will soon be coming to see this play with a reception class. One of our pupils requires some information on the trips to help reasure them. Can you please let me know is the performance interactive? will the children be asked to call out? sing? etc, thank you for you help

    j milburn at 11:43am on Thu 17th Nov 2011

  • Hi

There is a level of interactivity in the performance, the children are asked to call out and there is a little song and dance routine that they are all encouraged (but not obliged) to get involved in. Some of this interaction can be seen in the trailers (click on the 'trailer' tab above) - this may help to give some reassurance and a better idea of what to expect.

    I hope this is helpful.

  • Hi Emma,

Thanks for your comment, we're pleased you're thinking of coming to see 'The Tiger Who Came To Tea'. You will get a good view wherever you sit - you won't get neck ache as the seats slope down to the stage.

    Thanks,
