Catch the Golden Globes winners at Warwick Arts Centre this spring

The awards season is in full swing, and last night the Golden Globes were handed out in LA, where several films that feature in our upcoming cinema schedule came away with gongs.

The big winners on the night were modern silent movie The Artist, and the new film from Alexander Payne, The Descendants. The Artist picked up the award for Best Musical/Comedy, plus a best actor gong for the film’s lead Jean Dujardin. In the corresponding categories for Drama, The Descendants beat off stiff competition from The Help and Moneyball to win in the Best Picture category. But the Best Actor and Best Actress awards stuck to the expected script, with awards for George Clooney and Meryl Streep for their roles in The Descendants and The Iron Lady, respectively.
