Hands-on producer training for Coventry-based 16-21 year olds!
Young Producers ran in 2020, culminating in a fantastic online Festival in June, which you can find out more about here
We’re now fundraising for a second version of the programme, so see below for details – but please don’t apply as we’re not currently accepting applications until funding is secured!
Young Producers is a FREE training opportunity for Coventry-based 16-21 year olds who are passionate about performing arts to find out more about making art happen.
Young Producers is for you if you are:
• Aged 16-21
• Passionate about music, dance, drama, poetry or art
• Interested in finding out more about making events happen
• Want to put on your own events
Through a mixture of day-long intensive sessions and evening sessions our Young Producers will gain insight into what it takes to put on arts events – project planning, fundraising/budgeting, marketing, project delivery and evaluation. Following a brief and budget set by Warwick Arts Centre, they will put these skills into practice by producing events for a Youth Takeover Festival. These events could be scratch performances, DJ sets, live debates, open mic events, etc.
Young Producers will also hear from professionals across arts organisations, see shows and shadow other events throughout the programme.
This is a great opportunity to develop employability and interpersonal skills, whilst being creative, working with new people and having a say at one of the largest multi-arts centres in the UK.
No experience is necessary – only an interest in performing arts and ideas for exciting events!

18-21 and not in education?
Thanks to funding from the ESF Community Fund, we are able to offer additional support to 3 × 18-21 year olds from minority ethnic backgrounds and not in education, training or employment to further develop their arts practice, including one-to-one mentoring from arts professionals.
We are committed to ensuring that finances are not a barrier to young people that want to be involved in Young Producers. Whilst the scheme is free to attend, we’re aware that travel costs to the centre can also prevent some young people in taking part. Thanks to Warwick Arts Centre’s generous donors, we are able to provide travel bursaries to any young person that requires financial support in getting to the arts centre. Please let us know if you’d like to be considered for a bursary in your application form.
Work with young people? – Nominate someone!
This is an exciting opportunity for young people to explore their creativity, develop their skill set for the world of work and collaborate with a range of people to put on their own events.
If you know someone from Coventry who you think would make a brilliant producer, let us know!
