This is an open call out for artists to submit work to be exhibited within a disused shop space, curated by Warwick Arts Centre and Invisible Flock.
Bring the Happy is an ongoing project about happiness, an attempt to map moments and memories of happiness.
A first kiss, a lost love, a longed for baby, childhood heroes, a proposal, a dance, a chance encounter – where did it happen and how happy did it make you feel on a scale from 1 to 10?
For three weeks Invisible Flock will occupy a disused shop in Coventry and transform it into a giant 3D map of the city. From 10-6 every day the public are invited to explore the map, discover what makes others happy and where, and in turn submit their own happy memory or moment to add to the ever-growing database of the country’s happiness. At the end of three weeks the memories collected are taken and transformed into Bring The Happy Live, a spectacular performance.
This is an open call out for artists to submit work to be exhibited within this shop space, curated by Warwick Arts Centre and Invisible Flock.
It is a space that will be given temporary life for 3 weeks of occupation. It will become a hive of activity with events hosted in the evenings as well as during the day.
We are looking for proposals that will work alongside the activity of Bring the Happy and the large scale map that is the focus of the activity. Your work could be present in the space for the duration of the 3 weeks, happen only once or reoccur at the same time each week.
Proposals are welcomed from all art forms including performance, music, visual art and digital art. Work could be hung on the wall or performed in the space; we are open to your ideas. Perhaps your work has similar themes that chime with the project; happiness/ mapping/ public space/ the city/ memory?
There is not a fee available for this project and you will need to cover all of your expenses, materials and set up costs.
Your proposal must be no longer than one page of an A4 word document and any documentation of the proposed work or previous work (such as images or videos) must be provided in the form of a web address where it can be viewed online.
Please title your proposal document using your name and email it to email@example.com We are open to proposals being submitted at any point during the residency from 8th – 25th April 2013, given that they bear in mind time to create and set up the work, but proposals sent in advance of this date are preferred particularly for visual art.
If you would like to discuss the project in more detail please don’t hesitate to contact Laura Elliot on 02476 524439
