Mead Gallery Celebrates Art in the Heart of the Midlands

Posted on

We’ve always known that the Midlands is a great hub for art, but now we’ve gotten together with a group of venues to start shouting about it! For the first time, galleries across the West Midlands are coming together to highlight the wealth of world-class art on our doorstep, and the Mead Gallery here at Warwick Arts Centre is one of the venues taking part.

Art in the Heart is a partnership of 23 art galleries and venues in the West Midlands who collectively recorded over 6 million visitors during 2011-12. Art in the Heart is led by Birmingham Museums Trust and is supported by Arts Council England. Visitors to each of the venues taking part are invited to tweet using #artinmyheart stating which piece of art they love at that venue and why, uploading a picture too if possible.

Maybe it is the building itself you love, a permanent piece of artwork, or an exhibition or artwork not normally seen in the region – Art in the Heart wants to know about it! The Mead Gallery’s new exhibition The World Turned Upside Down will open on Fri 4 Oct, but until then, there’s plenty of art dotted all over the Arts Centre and the University of Warwick that you can come and enjoy!
