Somewhere in Coventry, a sad, disused building is currently undergoing an incredible transformation. This October half term, we’re opening a very unusual sort of bank at a secret location in the centre of the city, and we want families to help us on a quest to find the elusive bank manager.
This is Bank on It, a joyful and funny immersive theatre experience from Theatre-Rites, designed to get children thinking about resources, value and what we can and cannot buy. Starting on a coach at Warwick Arts Centre and travelling to the heart of the bank in a mystery location, it’s an exciting, interactive promenade performance that takes families through a magical world where even the most mundane office equipment comes to life.
Bank On It was created following an encounter between Sue Buckmaster, artistic director of Theatre-Rites, and academics from the Economics department at the University of Warwick in our unique This_Is_Tomorrow project, and we co-commissioned the finished piece which opened in London over the summer, delighting critics and families alike. Coventry is the only other place in the world where the bank will open a branch, and our team have worked hard to find a suitable venue in the city. We’re thrilled to be bringing this brilliant show back home for Midlands audiences to enjoy – come and open an account with us this autumn half-term!
