Showcasing some of the people that make Warwick Arts Centre what it is
Every year Warwick Arts Centre programmes hundreds of productions, plays host to concerts, lectures and film screenings – and brings the best in dance, theatre, live music, comedy, circus and family shows to our venue. And every year thousands of audience members stream through our doors to enjoy these productions.
To let our audiences know what is happening when, and to celebrate our programme, we produce three brochures; for our autumn, spring and summer seasons. For 2016-17 we decided celebrate our audience too, by using photography and showcasing just some of the people who make the Arts Centre such a special and vibrant place.
Over the coming year, you will be able to ‘meet’ some of our audience members through our season brochure, but for the moment, let’s take a look at how we got here and who features on our Autumn cover…
Then to Now
Over the past five years the last 15 covers have featured work by some of the very best local illustrators and designers (you can see them here). We have incorporated these designs into everything we do – including posters, web content and our trailer advert, but this year we decided to take a different approach.
Back in July 2016, we spent a weekend on campus with members of our audience, Arts Centre team and University of Warwick staff, shooting three season’s worth of covers with photographer Adrian Burrows. It was a beautiful sunny summer’s day, so special thanks to all of our models who braved the heat, especially those who took part in the autumn shoot – as woolly hats and scarves weren’t ideal in the mid-day sun!
Autumn Brochure Stars
The two stars on this season’s brochure cover, photographed against the backdrop of the local sandstone wall of the Helen Martin Studio, are Anna, a University of Warwick graduate who has worked with us both as an intern and in the Box Office and Jim (87), an Arts Centre regular and ice-skating enthusiast who skates every week.
Anna last came to was see Sing Street in the cinema and Jim recently visited an exhibition in the Mead Gallery. Anna loves the ‘high quality of Warwick Arts Centres live theatre and cinema screenings’ and Jim cites the ‘varied programme’ as the main reason he regularly visits.
Here’s a sneak peek of the photoshoot for our summer and spring brochure.
