We spoke to Amanda Fleming, second year English and Theatre student at the University of Warwick, about her experiences working with Warwick Arts Centre during her studies.
“I first found out about Warwick Arts Centre during freshers’ week, before I actually started my studies. Since then I’ve been allowed endless opportunities for self-development and getting creative.
Through Warwick Arts Centre I’ve been offered employment opportunities, which are flexible and work well around my degree. I’ve worked as a Steward at numerous performances, as an Operations Assistant and as a Casual Technician, providing tech support during shows. Warwick Arts Centre provides a creative space where student productions can come to life and thrive.
Having worked on numerous productions including Anything Goes, Into The Woods, The Marriage of Figaro, Avenue Q and Cabaret, I’ve been able to learn a lot about the workings of a production from the ground up.
I’ve not only discovered a love for technical theatre, my experiences have taught me in more ways than I can know. I’ve grown in confidence, developed my leadership skills and worked alongside creative professionals who value hard work. I’ve even gained a bit of upper body strength!”
