Family Day promises adventure in The Great Outdoors

Posted on

We invite you to explore The Great Outdoors at our next Family Day on Sun 10 Jun, 10am – 5pm.

Warwick Arts Centre, Warwick Sport and Warwick Retail welcome visitors of all ages to enjoy an exciting programme of family friendly arts and sports activities across the University of Warwick’s campus.

Experience the magic of The Carnival of the Animals at Warwick Arts Centre as Fingers and Thumb Theatre pair music with the visual magic of hand shadows to create a spell-binding virtuoso performance. We’ll be showing free screenings of family favourites in our cinema all day and, in The Goose Nest, our technical team will be demonstrating how they make the four seasons come alive on stage using lighting, sounds and other effects. Visitors can also explore the John Piper exhibition in our Mead Gallery and try their hand at making a stained glass window or a giant beach collage, inspired by the artist’s work.

With plenty of free activities to discover, we can promise an exciting adventure for all the family. Drop by the WMG building to design your own ice-cream using CAD software, check out bugs and critters in an electron microscope and take a trip round Coventry in an exciting simulation. Learn how to make a puppet in our crafting workshop or get active with Warwick Sport. Jump into the cool water, play with floats and swim like a dolphin; master the bow and arrow in our free archery sessions or reach dizzying heights on the climbing wall. Get a team together and try dodgeball, cricket, netball and more.

There are also plenty of opportunities for weary explorers to relax and take a break: bring lunch to enjoy in our picnic areas, or sample some delicious treats from our food market. Café Oculus and Warwick Arts Centre Café Bar are lovely spots to sit down and grab a bite to eat. The Games Room will be providing entertainment for kids of all ages and Roxy and Rita’s Rural Emporium is the perfect chill out zone, full of immersive sensory delights for babies and any younger children who need a quiet space.

This is the perfect opportunity for the whole family to get together and experience sports, arts and creativity all in one place. For a full list of all events and activities, click here.
