A COVID-19 update from Director, Doreen Foster

A statement from our Director, Doreen Foster

It is six weeks since we suspended all activity at Warwick Arts Centre and temporarily closed the building. Like other arts organisations we have been following Government guidance and this has resulted in losing our Summer 2020 programme. Where possible events have been rescheduled, and where we have had no choice but to cancel, customers have been notified and refunded. Our Box Office team have worked hard to process all our programme changes and we thank all our audiences and customers for their patience and understanding.

As a registered charity, we rely on a mix of income and ticket sales represent a significant proportion of this income. Therefore, the removal of the summer programme is not without consequences, and we have now taken the difficult decision to furlough the majority of roles under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.

The Arts Centre team will be furloughed from midnight on Wed 29 April until Tue 30 June. I am really grateful to our staff who have continued to plan future activities, stayed in touch with our many and diverse range of partners including artists and young people whose projects have been disrupted, postponed or cancelled. But the time has come to press pause. We will be in touch again when we return to the building.

We will all come back stronger. In the meantime, stay healthy, be kind and we look forward to welcoming you again soon.

Doreen Foster, Director, Warwick Arts Centre
