Open to everyone in the Midlands aged 16 to 21, this programme gives you the chance to train, meet industry leaders, and kickstart your career.
How it works
We launched this programme in 2020, teaming up with China Plate Theatre to give 15 young people an opportunity to turn their passion for the performing arts into new skills and invaluable hands-on experience.
Our first set of Young Producers took part in one-day intensive workshops and evening sessions; met with a variety of industry producers; and experienced firsthand all the challenges of planning a project, fundraising for it, budgeting, marketing, delivery and evaluation.
After the Covid pandemic hit the programme didn’t stop: we moved everything online and the team were able to transform their original scheme into an amazing online festival of events and workshops.
Making it happen
Thanks to our funders, we were able to make Young Producers completely free for participants. We could also include travel bursaries for them, and three members of the team - who were not in education, employment, or training - were given additional support and mentoring.
We’re very grateful to Coventry City of Culture, Arts Connect, the European Social Fund, the Baron Davenport Charity, and all our supporters for making this inaugural programme possible. There’s a full list of everyone who helped make it happen here.
An incredible experience, showing that whatever situation [we’re in], there should always be a space to share your art and come together.Dayah, Young Producer 2020
