A beautifully crafted and achingly poignant film about family, grief and loneliness. After the sudden death of his boyfriend Kai, Richard (Ben Whishaw) becomes determined to look after Kai’s only relative, his Chinese-Cambodian mother Junn. But, unable to speak English and unaware of her son’s true sexuality, Junn is suspicious of Richard’s frequent visits to see her at her retirement home.

Insightfully written and elegantly shot by first-time filmmaker Hong Khaou, Lilting also boasts moving performances from Ben Whishaw and Pei-Pei Cheng.
