The Fall formed in Manchester in 1976 and has existed ever since. Essentially built around its founder and only constant member, Mark E. Smith the group’s music has gone through several stylistic changes over the years, but is often characterised by an abrasive guitar-driven sound and frequent use of repetition, always underpinned by Smith’s distinctive vocals and often cryptic lyrics.

The current Fall line‐up (Peter Greenway, Keiron Melling, Elena Poulou, Mark E. Smith and David Spurr) will perform classics and songs from their 30th studio album, Re-mit.

Join us in the Mead Gallery before The Fall for a special preview of their latest exhibition, about the impact of the industrial revolution on British popular culture, particularly music. The exhibition will open at 6pm – click here to find out more.
