The three-time Grammy Award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir has been spreading sheer joy to audiences across the globe for nearly two decades! Having most recently been the winners of the 2019 Grammy Award for Best World Music Album, they now announce their Freedom 2020 Tour.

Comprising 18 of the best artists in South Africa, these uplifting performers have shared the stage with some of the biggest names in music including Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Beyoncé and Celine Dion.

Filling the stage with vibrant costumes, incredible vocals and uplifting songs, the dynamic choir performs both traditional and contemporary music, adding its unique feel and interpretation to both. The choir performs in six of South Africa’s eleven official languages with rich harmonies and earthy rhythms. For the first half of this concert, the choir will perform Songs of the Free, a rousing program celebrating the centenary of the birth of Nelson Mandela. Following that, the performers will share international gospel classics including their hair-raising take on Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah. Just try to stay in your seat!

Don’t miss the spectacular Soweto Gospel Choir. Hailing from the town of Soweto, the birthplace of South Africa’s democratic movement’s struggle for freedom, they inspire audiences around the world with their powerful blend of African gospel, freedom songs, and international classics.

Please note: there is no lift access to seats in the balconies or choir stalls for the duration of the Warwick 20:20 Project. If you have any queries, please contact Box Office.
