Orchestral Series 2022-23

The new orchestral series is here!

Our second season since our transformation sees a diverse programme that features old favourites, major celebrations, and some surprises too.

With worldwide celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Rachmaninov in 2023, it’s understandable that his work features heavily in our season, with City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and The Hallé all presenting expertly chosen pieces by the composer, as do the visiting Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. The Estonians will be joined by pianist Freddy Kempf, who we welcome back after his breath-taking and thoroughly entertaining solo recital last season.

But the season isn’t just about émigré Rachmaninov, who settled in the US after the 1917 Revolution, as you can also hear wonderful works from Thomas Adès, John Adams, Gerald Finzi, Arvo Pärt, Chineke! favourite Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, and Swede Bo Linde, while our rescheduled Maxim Vengerov Gala Concert - with one of the greatest violinists of all time - will undoubtedly be a night to remember.
