Join Opera Warwick for a modern retelling of John Gay’s classic The Beggar’s Opera, re-imagined as a brand new jazz opera, set in an English pub.
The Beggar’s Opera arranged by Theo Caplan, is transformed from hymns and folk songs to jazz and blues, while maintaining the gorgeous singing and orchestration that Opera Warwick is proud of.
Follow the charismatic story of Macheath and two of his many lovers, the passionate Polly Peachum and Lucy Lockit, as the members of a local theatre company make a song and dance in their cosy pub, in a bid to convince the writer they should be given the chance of performing this brand new show on a stage.
We can’t promise you free pints, but we can promise you mystery, hijinks and plenty of humour in this thrilling metatheatrical experience!
