Join Shiv for a workshop focusing on sustainable community building and catalysing your movement. This is an opportunity for you to learn more about Shiv’s practice and find people to collaborate with on future campaigns with a focus on Trans+ Queer solidarity.
Shivani Dave (they/them) is an experienced facilitator and journalist whose work focuses on human rights, science and technology. Shiv is one of the organisers of the London Dyke March, and involved in ACT UP LONDON, Queer Night Pride, London Trans+ Pride.
Shiv is driven by a passion for sharing the stories of marginalised and oppressed people around the world. As a trans, non-binary, person of colour, Shiv is determined to ensure they create spaces that foster spaces without judgement or prejudice and asks that you approach them with the same intentions.

This drop-in placard making workshop is an opportunity for LGBTQIA+ folk to create and customise their own design to celebrate and/or uplift their own voices in a visual format, which they can take away and use in their upcoming parade march. Whether you have an hour or only 15 mins, you can leave this workshop with your own piece to be proud of!
Ellis Miles is a Birmingham-based queer graphic artist and designer, with over half a decade’s worth of experience creating for large-scale events, designing for charitable organisations, and prop making for TV and film.

A hands-on workshop led by a celebrated drag performer and creative mentor. This is your chance to learn from a working artist, experiment with performance in bold new ways, and connect with other LGBTQ+ students. No prior performance experience needed.

This project has been largely inspired and dedicated to the work of Audre Lorde, a lesbian civil rights activist and second-wave feminist who wrote poetry and essays on her experiences as a queer woman of colour.

This workshop is led by queer illustrator Freyja Perkins. In this session, you’ll explore the art of protest through bold, expressive poster-making. Together, we’ll discuss what makes an effective protest poster or banner, reflect on LGBTQIA+ protest history and share ideas in a collaborative, supportive space.
Freyja will present their own example using collage and materials from the Modern Records Centre then guide you in creating your own protest-inspired artwork.

Join academics at the Warwick Arts Centre to discover some of the incredible queer research taking place at the University. Connect with history and stories through talks, creative workshops and conversation.
Illustrator and zine-maker Freyja Perkins will run a hands-on session where you’ll explore the origins of zine-making. Learn two simple DIY techniques, and dive into photocopied archival materials from the Modern Records Centre. Use queer history and themes as inspiration to create your own zine. Freyja will guide you through idea generation, creative experimentation, and reflection in a relaxed, supportive space.
