What's on in the Gallery?
This May, be dazzled by a duet of stunning exhibitions right here in the Mead Gallery in Warwick Arts Centre (Thu 1 May - Sun 22 Jun). FREE entry (Open Tuesday – Sunday, 11am – 8pm).
The Mead Gallery is delighted to present the first institutional exhibition in the UK of revered Okinawan photographer Mao Ishikawa. Running simultaneously is a solo exhibition of London-based artist, Mike Silva.
Ishikawa is renowned for her raw images of daily life in her home of Okinawa, which examine the complex colonial, racial, and sexual dynamics relating to those who call this island home. Meanwhile, Silva’s paintings bring to life portraits, landscapes, and interiors through capturing subtle shifts of light in intimately observed moments.
Want to feel even closer to the exhibition? Come along for Artists in Conversation (Tue 6 May) where Mike Silva discusses his work with artist, writer and filmmaker Sean Burns and Joseph Constable, Head of Exhibitions, De La Warr Pavilion.

Attending a live performance should be in your top things to do this month if you want to share an amazing experience with your friends or family.
Fill an evening with fun by seeing our fantastic comedians performing across the month, such as Richard Herring (Thu 8 May). If you’re looking to learn, why not join the iconic Lucy Worsley as she talks all things Jane Austen (Tue 13 May)?
Feel the creative buzz by coming along to a special live recording of artist David Speed’s Creative Rebels podcast (Wed 7 May). Or, come along at the end of the month for student-created production The Wolves, which follows a top football team through a tale of love, loss, and identity (this event is part of our PLATFORM programme, where Warwick Arts Centre supports bold new student works and performances).
