What is Welcome Week?
Welcome Week is an amazing week of activities dedicated to helping students adjust to life at the University of Warwick. From introductions to student sports and societies to academia, it’s all about getting settled in!
Here at Warwick Arts Centre, Welcome Week is full of opportunities to see how you can get creative at Warwick and enjoy all of our facilities, from our cinemas to our stage.
What kind of activities were on offer?
This year, we held a whopping 26 activities across the week! These activities spanned creative sessions from painting to clay, music events including group performances and an open mic night, sculpture tours, and more!
As the majority of these sessions were drop in and held in our Gallery Foyer, popping into our building meant you were bound to find a fun activity that you and your friends can instantly join.
What’s even better? Many of these sessions occur regularly, which made this the perfect week to see what our activities like Workshop Wednesdays or Jazz Fridays are like, meet our friendly team, and get familiar with our awesome spaces.
What was Welcome Week 2025 at Warwick like?
In one word: incredible!
Welcome Week saw the Arts Centre buzzing with activity as people came inside and explored our spaces. We contributed to making Welcome Week feel like a warm welcome with a dedicated desk set up by our entrance and our fabulous team ready to give greetings and answer any questions. This meant there were always people to have a chat with as well as there being plenty of fun things to do.
Plus, the attendance of these sessions doesn’t lie! Students were delighted to take advantage of our free creative drop-in sessions, and these formed an amazing opportunity to grab a seat next to someone new and start to form friendships. It’s a lot easier to relax and start conversations when you’re doing something you enjoy!
Is Welcome Week just for new students?
Welcome Week is for all students on campus, whether you’re new or returning. Not only did returning students do an amazing job of running fun activities with their societies, such as For Black Boys: The Paint & Sip, or putting on super performances, like the Big Band, they also came along to our sessions to get their creative juices flowing.
Now that Welcome Week’s over, what else can I do?
