Starring the then relatively unknown actress Jean Seberg, Otto Preminger’s seminal 1958 film, Bonjour Tristesse influenced Jean-Luc Godard to create his debut, Breathless four years later.

It’s summer in the sun-drenched French Riviera, and amoral teenager Cecile (Seberg) and her rich playboy father Raymond (Niven) are living the high life. When Cecile’s carefree lifestyle is threatened by Raymond’s plan to marry his late wife’s best friend (played by Deborah Kerr), she plans to break up the pair with disastrous consequences.
