How has classification in the UK changed over time? This Film Talk from Lucy Brett, Head of Education at the British Board of Film Classification, explores the history of film age ratings, public opinion on cinema, taste and decency, and how responses to issues like sex, violence and discrimination have changed over time.
It will feature clips from contemporary and historical works and a complete screening of Steve McQueen’s Shame, followed by a Q&A session about the film and current film ratings.
