An adaptation of the best-selling novel by Jonas Jonasson, this film tells the story of Allan Karlsson, an elderly man who’s had his fair share of crazy adventures.

On his 100th birthday, Allan escapes (through the window) from his retirement home and stumbles across a suitcase filled with money. Whilst travelling across Sweden on the run from gang members and policemen, he recalls the adventures from his past, from the frontline of the Spanish Civil War to getting drunk with President Truman via dancing with Stalin and the befriending of Einstein’s idiotic brother.

“Director Felix Herngren gets the balance of callously dark humour and playful, silly storytelling just right.” ★★★★ The List
