Following an operation that goes drastically wrong, chief detective Carl Mørck is farmed out to an admin role in the department of cold cases. Despite strict instructions to only read and sort through the cases, Carl’s curious streak cannot be dampened, and he is soon investigating the mystery of a female politician’s disappearance. Unconvinced by the ruling of suicide, Carl and his assistant Assad venture on a journey that will take them deep into the undercurrent of malice that lurks beneath the polished surface of Scandinavia.
