TippingPoint’s most ambitious event in a decade aims to help energise the performing arts sector by bringing it together with voices from the world of climate science to explore the vital terrain at the intersection of knowledge and culture. It is designed to help theatre makers clarify the hugely complex subject through specific themes, and to positively reimagine their work in the context of our rapidly changing world.

During this three-day gathering, theatre writers, directors, makers, creators, producers, company members, performance artists, activists, dancers and choreographers will come together with climate specialists to shape new ideas and develop a platform for creative responses to the biggest challenge humanity has ever faced.

Participants will work, play and eat together. It will be a new festival of ideas; a jolt to the collective imagination as we all try to figure out our place in this new world. This is the chance to exchange views with comrades and work with scientists to bring the arts further into the climate movement.

This event isn’t about being talked at in a lecture hall, or reading yet another apocalyptic report from NASA. It is about working together with individuals from different backgrounds, and coming together to find new perspectives and your answer to the question, “What can I do about this?”

Accommodation costs are additional, at £70 per night; we strongly recommend this if at all possible, as it will be in a building adjacent to the Arts Centre, allowing you spend as much time as possible with the rest of the group.

A limited number of bursaries of £100 will be available to individuals. The deadline for applications is April 29, awards will be announced by May 5 – which will allow application by the reduced cost deadline. Bursaries will be administered separately by TippingPoint, and will be paid at the event. Apply here.

Each conference pass allows admittance to all regular conference events, plus performances of Broken, 7 Promises and Johnny and the Baptists. Conference pass excludes entry to add-on workshops and/or talks which will require a separate registration at the conference registration desk on the day.
