In this public lecture, Former Lord Chief Justice, Lord (Igor) Judge will examine how a document sealed 800 years ago, and the perceptions to which it gave rise over the centuries, has a remarkable continuing vibrancy today. Together with Sir Robert Worcester, Chairman of the 2015 800th Anniversary Commemoration, they define the impact the Magna Carta has made to the law and to society as the ‘Foundation of Liberty’, affecting the lives of nearly two billion people in more than one hundred countries round the world. They argue that Magna Carta deserves its description as ‘Britain’s greatest export’.
