Come and discover the ancient art of feltmaking. One of the oldest known textiles techniques has been updated for contemporary tastes and styles.
Discover how to lay out soft merino wool into layers and form a sturdy bag with no seams or stitching. We will be using a ‘resist’ method and there will be a wide selection of colours for you to create your own design.
Expert Penny Dixon will guide you throughout the day and techniques and you will be able to take home a beautiful completed bag.
You will need:
A notebook and pen.
An old towel.
Small sharp scissors.
Wear comfortable clothes that you can move around in easily. There is quite a lot of arm work!
Feltmaking is a clean but sometimes wet process so an apron might be useful.
A spare carrier bag or two is handy to take a damp project home in.
All other equipment is provided.
