Marina (Vega) is a young waitress and aspiring singer. When her partner, Orlando, suffers a terrible accident one night, Marina becomes the prime suspect. As a trans woman she is treated like a criminal from the offset, with everyone from the doctors to Orlando’s family and the police treating her not as a woman, but as an aberration.

“It may be a timely film, but it is its timelessness, as well as its depths of compassion, that qualify it as a great one.” ★★★★★ The Guardian
