When the Batista regime falls, Sergio (Corrieri), an affluent writer and member of the Havana elite, stays behind in Cuba while his wife and family escape to Miami. Caught between the bourgeois lifestyle he is tired of and a revolution he doesn’t understand, Sergio squanders his days prowling the streets of Havana. Drifting through his new life he falls into a messy affair with the chaste 17-year-old Elena (Granados), nearly ruining him when her family accuses Sergio of rape.
