This exquisite, layered adaptation of Chekov’s classic finds a group of friends and family gathered for a seemingly jovial weekend in the countryside. Yet, under the surface, Nina (Ronan) pines desperately for Irina’s (Bening) partner Boris (Stoll), a celebrated playwright, whilst Masha (Moss) fights a battle with her own unrequited love. While everyone is passionately caught up loving someone who loves someone else, a tragicomedy about art, fame, human folly, and the eternal desire to live a purposeful life unfolds.

“Bening and Ronan are excellent…both are skilled in balancing the comedic with the dramatic, earning laughs and gasps in equal measure.” Indiewire
