Please note that this event will now take place in the Butterworth Hall. Tickets that have already been purchased are still valid. Any existing ticket holders will be contacted by Box Office as soon as possible.

Work alongside Sue Kirk, a basket maker from Northamptonshire, to create your own traditional round stake and strand basket, using willowing grown in Somerset and King’s Cliffe.

You will learn how willow is harvested and then prepared, along with the ancient and fascinating techniques involved in the construction of baskets.

At the end of the session you will be able to take home your basket, which can be used to hold bread or fruit and also looks great hung on a kitchen wall, or fill it with presents for a festive gift.

This Masterclass is suitable for beginners. Sue will explain the techniques involved in each stage of the basket and you will be given demonstrations and one to one tuition throughout the day.

Please be aware that weaving willow can be quite demanding on wrists and fingers, so participants will need to have good strength and dexterity in their hands.

Please note that the usual Warwick Arts Centre Terms and Conditions do not apply to Masterclasses. Click here for the Masterclasses Terms and Conditions, or download them from the right hand side of the page.
