Horror icon Wes Craven's sly, witty 90s deconstruction of the slasher flick reinvented the genre.

The sleepy little town of Woodsboro just woke up screaming. There's a killer in their midst who's seen a few too many scary movies, stalking and taunting their victims before ripping them to shreds. Who’ll be next? Starring Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Skeet Ulrich and an iconic Drew Barrymore on a cordless landline, the original Scream birthed a horror franchise.

Our team is sharing the films they love so you can enjoy them on the big screen.

What’s your favourite scary movie? Mine’s a little bit flirty, a lot a bit funny and has a nice healthy dose of meta-commentary.

Scream walked so that modern horror could run and I stand by my theory that it’s the quintessential reason as to why no-one answers their damn phone nowadays!

Can anybody name another satirical slasher so well executed that it inspired its own satirical spin off? (Looking at you, Scary Movie!) A franchise that took the most generic off-the-shelf Halloween costume ever made and turned it into something so iconic that it’s now eponymous with the series itself.

If you want to listen to me wax lyrical about how culturally significant this film remains to be and just how it’s social analysis remains true to the current state of the world 30 years later, well, “I’ll be right back”… whoops!
