Eva Libertad’s nuanced, award-winning drama immerses us into the world of a young Deaf woman expecting a baby.

Preparing for parenthood with her hearing partner Hector (Alvaro Cervantes), the impending arrival of Angela (Miriam Garlo) and Hector’s baby – and the question of whether it will be hearing or deaf – brings the differences between their experiences of the world into sharp relief. Through clever use of sound and silence, Deaf absorbs us into Angela’s reality.

Post-screening discussion

Enjoy a post-screening conversation led by Mary-Jayne Russell de Clifford, a Midlands-based Deaf artist.

BSL interpretation will be available for the talk.
