Based on the Robert Macfarlane bestseller, this fascinating documentary gives us a new perspective on the world beneath our feet.

Beginning in the shallow soils beneath an old ash tree, we join several ‘astronauts of the underworld’ as they travel into ancient sacred caves, flooded storm drains, melting glaciers, underwater burial chambers and a deep underground laboratory built to solve the mysteries of the universe. Narrated by Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall), Underland is a poetic deep dive into the Earth.

Staff Picks

Our team is sharing the films they love so you can enjoy them on the big screen.

My staff pick is Rob McFarlane: Underland which I recently heard on audio book and can’t wait to see on the big screen. He explores some huge issues within the construct of exploring below the earth and examining the many ways humans respond to and use the ‘Underland’.

If you liked Wilding and Heart of an Oak then this will be right up your street!
