Rosamund Pike and Matthew Rhys give terrific performances in Babak Anvari’s (Under the Shadow) perfectly constructed thriller.

A masterclass in suspense and sustained intensity, Hallow Road is set almost entirely during a terrifyingly urgent car ride. Late at night, a married couple get a call from their daughter Alice, who’s been in an accident. Panicked by her increasingly desperate plight, they must drive to the scene to help her, all the while keeping her on the phone. A moral maze full of unexpected twists, it’s a uniquely propulsive thrill ride.
