Returning for its 20th anniversary, Keira Knightley and a pre-Succession Matthew Macfadyen star in Joe Wright’s rambunctious, romantic adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel.
Knightley plays keen-eyed Lizzie Bennet, who takes a dislike to conceited, haughty bachelor Mr. Darcy (Macfadyen) at their very first meeting .Meanwhile, he’s repulsed by her deeply inappropriate family. Could they have misjudged each other? Lizzie and Darcy’s eventful path to love is beautifully depicted in Wright’s joyous, invigorating version of Pride & Prejudice, with Knightley giving a great performance as the spirited Lizzie, ably supported by Brenda Blethyn, the late Donald Sutherland, Tom Hollander and Judi Dench.
