Matthias Glasner’s award-winning epic of familial dysfunction follows a pair of adult siblings and their ailing parents.

Celebrated conductor Tom (Lars Eidinger) is rehearsing a new piece and preparing to become a father. His troubled sister Ellen (Lilith Stangenberg) is embarking on a frenzied affair with a married colleague. Meanwhile, their sharp-tongued mother is struggling to care for their father, who’s in steep mental decline. Where are Tom and Ellen when they are needed most? Glasner’s provocative semi-autobiographical opus treads the line between drama, tragedy and black humour.
